Geoff Weatherford (geoffw)  > Wyoming Trail Hiking > Big Sandy Trailhead - Wind Rivers WY, 9/2/05
On September 2, 2005 I took a long weekend trip in order to hike in the Bridger Wilderness area. This is located in the Wind River Range of Wyoming. Please go to my trail blogging site (opens a new window) for a full description of the trip.

Geoff Weatherford (geoffw) > Yaaaayyyyy. I made it. Big Sandy Lake. Quite a nice place. I'm a little tense because I'm not sure that the remote device to shoot the picture is going to work. It did.
Hmmm. Did I mention that during the entire trip I saw very few (2-3?) flies and no (that's zero) mosquitos? Well, it was very bug free : )
Geoff Weatherford (geoffw) > I've learned (to a limited degree) how to create panorama shots. This one is composed of 3 separate pictures of Sandy Lake.
Geoff Weatherford (geoffw) > If you look waaaaaaayyyyy down at the other end of the lake (like this), you can see a packer and his stock. These guys are kinda like the truckers on the highway. They haul a lot of stuff and they move along pretty fast.
Geoff Weatherford (geoffw) > Big Sandy Trailhead, Bridger Wilderness WY, Sept 2, 2005. Here is a couple of people I met that lived in Pinedale in the summer and Key West in the winter. Tough life : ) I acted like I did not care since he was packing a 357 in a shoulder holster (most locals will carry a gun; most others will not; my glock was in my pack; this is griz country).
Geoff Weatherford (geoffw) > The weather and the scenary were just spectacular.
Geoff Weatherford (geoffw) > Here is a final pano shot looking across the lake up towards some high country with yet more lakes (maybe next year). You'll note that the earlier pictures were taken during overcast conditions (or, at least lots of clouds). But it finally got very nice and sunny.
Four pictures make up this pano. Not the best pano (I need more practice), but gives you an idea of the area.
Geoff Weatherford (geoffw) > On the way back down, I ran across some fresh fruit : )
Geoff Weatherford (geoffw) > Yes, they were quite tasty.
Geoff Weatherford (geoffw) > I was able to take a slightly different trail on the way back from Big Sandy. Made the hike a little longer, but turned out to be even prettier than the other trail.
